Despite the sad loss of two members who had passed to the GLA in recent weeks, and the resignation of another member who was no longer able to attend the evening meetings, the Enthronement of the Sovereign elect was a happy occasion for the Princes of Bury Chapter.
Having opened the Chapter and paid appropriate tribute to the departed members, the Most Wise Sovereign, E&P Bro Steven Flanagan, welcomed me on my first ever visit to the Chapter and then proceeded with the business; approval of minutes, communications and the Enthronement of the Sovereign Elect, Ill.Bro Ken Laidlaw.
Ken joined Bury Chapter after relocating to the Bury area from his native Hebburn on Tyneside some 5 years ago and remarked that he still wasn’t sure the locals understood his accent! He was looking forward to an active year in the Chair, health permitting, with two candidates in the pipeline and the District meeting at Rochdale in June, for which Bury Chapter has been selected as the Host Chapter.
As an added extra for the meeting, I was invited to present and explain a Supreme Council Certificate of Perfection to E&P Bro Roy Tindall who was Perfected at a previous meeting.
With the Enthronement ceremony under his belt, the now Immediate Past Sovereign has completed all the work necessary for the Chapter to recommend his promotion to the 30th degree and we look forward to the day he travels to London to experience that occasion.
